Come soar with me – White-bellied Sea Eagle

It was a rather grey day with a storm hanging close by whilst walking on the beach near Batemans Bay – I love this weather & walking with the brisk sea breeze!

I was again looking for the local pair of White-bellied Sea Eagles Haliaeetus leucogaster that I had been told hung out around the point for days, but they were being elusive.

Then off in the distance I spotted one.

Fortunately they both decided to come in over the beach & I managed to get some photos. They are such spectacular birds and are often seen around coastal areas in storms or strong breezes soaring gracefully on the air currents. These eagles are the second largest eagle species found in Australia behind the Wedgetail Eagles. Although my long lens is not the nest I did manage to get a few reasonable photos.
